About Atriophallophorus winterbourni
The trematode Atriophallophorus winterbourni, or Microphallus sp./Microphallus livelyi, is a digenean parasite with a multihost life cycle, native to the lakes of New Zealand. In the beginning of its life cycle, A. winterbourni develops in the gonads of a mud snail (Potamopyrgus antipodarum), while the adult worm stage occurs in the gut of waterfowl, where the worms reproduce sexually. A. winterbourni is not known to infect humans and has low virulence in its final bird host.

This is the first de novo assembly of Atriophallophorus winterbourni. Illumina HiSeq 4000 and PacBio CLR reads were assembled at The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich using the MaSuRCA 3.2.3 assembler, as described by Zajac et al, 2021.
