About Caenorhabditis inopinata
Caenorhabditis inopinata (sp. 34) is a free-living, transparent nematode, isolated from fresh syconia of the fig Ficus septica in Ishigaki island, Japan. It is among the closest known relatives of C. elegans, while also displaying a number of characteristic differences related to the timing of developmental milestones and body size. This has created interest in the species as a system of study of evolutionary diversification.

The genome has been sequenced by Faculty of Medicine, University of Miyazaki, as described in Kanzaki et al. (2018)
Annotation
Gene structures in the Augustus predictions were refined by manual curation in Artemis, using RNA-seq mapping results and BLAST results against C. elegans proteins. The result was then submitted to WormBase by Taisei Kikuchi in June 2018.
