About Trichinella zimbabwensis

One of the Trichinella genus of parasitic nematodes, which are generally the causative agents of trichinosis (also known as trichinellosis). Trichinella zimbabwensis is found in crocodiles and monitor lizards in Africa but there are no known associations of this species with human disease.

The genome of T. zimbabwensis was produced by the Gasser laboratory at the University of Melbourne, as part of the assembly and analysis of all 12 recognized Trichinella species (described in Korhonen et al (2016)).
