About Panagrolaimus davidi
The Antarctic nematode Panagrolaimus davidi (also referred to as Panagrolaimus sp. DAW1) is remarkable for its ability to survive low sub-zero temperatures. When cooled quicky at very low temperatures, it can survive extensive intracellular freezing. When coooled slowly at higher temperatures. P. davidi undergoes cryoprotective dehydration (water loss to prevent freezing). This species reproduces through meiotic parthenogenesis.
